The girls from Troop 1254, under the leadership of Jean Soccodato, were invited to help artist, Matt Halm with his latest project, the Freehold Boro Downtown Mural. Mr. Halm showed them how he started the project and went through the steps of creating and completing such a huge undertaking. The girls were broken up into groups and got busy painting flowers and leaves that are prominent in the mural. They had a great time and were proud to be part of this historic event.

Cadette Troop 222 - Had a "Hot" Time at Ocky!!! PDF Print Email

Despite missing the Friday night activities at Ocky due to their 8th grade dances, the girls from Cadette Troop 222 were able to rise themselves out of bed at 5:45 am on Saturday morning to head to their favorite event of the year — Ocky (now that's dedication to an event)! A fun filled day was had as we met the rest of the Girl Scout campers from the Colonial Region for breakfast, settled into our cabins, set up the crafts and made our way through all the fun of the day — tie-dying, rock wall, ropes course, swimming, boating and preparing for our turn to run the skit night.

A conversation about the cabin decorating with pajama pants, jeans, and various pants while pre-planning for the event was followed by a comment from one of our moms on how she had a roll of caution tape that read, 'Fire Line, Do Not Cross.'  Yes, we took that comment and rolled it right into a whole 'Hot Pants' theme for the weekend — cabin decorating, outfits, and skit night theme.

Troop 2780's Fun at Camp Ocky! PDF Print Email

Troop 2780 had a great time at Camp Ocky from June 3 — June 5, 2011! The girls ate home cooked meals prepared by the camp chef, performed and watched funny skits, crossed the swamp over a rope bridge and balancing beam, climbed a huge rock wall and participated in archery. They also swam in the lake, tie-dyed shirts, did arts and crafts, shopped at the camp store, participated in a beautiful bridging ceremony with candles over the water, and most importantly bonded with their sister Girl Scouts. Click here for pictures from the event.
