You’re invited to National Night Out, an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors better!
The event will start at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, August 3 at the Howell Target Rt. 9 North. Contact

In spite of the hectic schedule of high school, the girls of Senior Troop 420 are staying connected to Scouting. After many years of after-school meetings, it became apparent this year that a more creative approach to meetings was needed. Between academics, sports, clubs, dance and all the other activities busy teens have it was time to think outside the box. The leaders and girls decided to incorporate meetings with an activity or outing. Instead of a traditional meeting place and time, the girls met every 4 to 6 weeks and enjoyed activities such as hiking, bowling and ice skating. Sunday afternoons seemed to be the best fit for everyone’s schedule and most meetings were well attended.
Using the new meeting format the girls were able to plan and carry out an Orienteering Interest Project workshop for younger Scouts in the fall. In the spring the troop visited Jake’s Branch County Park for lunch and a hike. The girls also enjoyed a guided tour of the Nature Center and took in the great view from the rooftop observation deck. In June, the troop celebrated the end of another great year with a BBQ. Summer activities include a trip to Breakwater Beach and a sailing adventure on Barnegat Bay. Through product sales the girls were able to earn enough money to cover the cost of all of the year’s activities! |

Brownie Troop 103 has been very busy learning about people and their cultures this year. The girls earned many Try-its - which they so enjoyed!
The Troop also learned a great deal about animals and their behavior. The girls took a trip to Popcorn Park Zoo to get a closer look at some of the animals they had studied. After visiting the Zoo, the girls were inspired to donate items that the animals needed - such as towels and blankets.
A local Florist visited Troop 103 to teach the girls about flower arranging. They made beautiful bouquets to take home. The Florist invited each of the girls to come to the shop for a tour.
This summer Troop 103 has a trip planned to the FunPlex in East Hanover, NJ. They will fund the trip using some of their cookie money raised this year. It should be a well earned great day for all! |
