Troop 299 celebrated their mid-year award ceremony on Sunday, January 22nd with their families. They participated in a candle lighting ceremony, awards presentation, and followed it up with a song/dance performance by the girls for their families. The girls used the "larger than life" sized flowers because they sang Fireflies and because they feel that they have soared through Girl Scouting thus far. Most of the girls have been together for 4 or 5 years. Two of the girls have been together for 7 years. After the festivities, the girls helped to put together their “birthday in a box” packages as part of their commitment to community service. To top off the evening, a delicious cake was enjoyed by all as we sampled the new Savannah Smiles 100th anniversary cookies. We look forward to more fun for the 2nd half of the year. - Dawn, Troop 299 |
